Brenton’s Salon Series hosted with the Newport Artist Collaborative is designed to give our guests and the Newport community a chance to speak to local artists and gallery owners to learn more about Newport, RI’s vibrant fine art scene.
The series is held every Thursday night from 5:00PM to 7:00PM and highlights a different artist or gallery each week.
Thursday August 7th will feature Julia Wheatley.
Julia Wheatley is a conceptual artist whose work begins by hand – working paper and found items into intricate collages which she uses as the compositional studies for her paintings.
With a background in Industrial Design and over a decade working as a professional model she draws from her own unusual path, where diverse elements blend like a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes.
Wheatley’s work addresses themes of identity such as the choices we make and how we relate to the larger composition of life.
Born in the United States and currently based on the East Coast, Wheatley earned her BFA Summa Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
August 14th will feature Anna-Marie Schnese.
August 21st will feature Brendan Flynn
August 28th will feature Kate Hickman
